ROS AGRO PLC announces the completion of 2018 sowing campaign
25.06.18On June, 22 Rusagro completed sowing season. In 2018 area of cultivated land gained 3% and reached 563.7 thousand hectares.
Area planted with wheat augmented second year in a row to partly replace the barley. Increase of soy area by 13% to 147.0 thousand hectares is explained by high profitability of this crop. Meanwhile, sugar beet area decreased by 4% to 89.0 thousand hectares due to bad economic performance of the crop.
In the Primorye Territory sowing area surged by 20% to 65.9 thousand hectares. There is an increase of soy area by 23% to 43.8 thousand hectares and of corn area by 56% to 21.2 thousand hectares.
Operational update published on June, 22 2018 by Department of agriculture and food of Primorye Territory states that overall cultivated are in the region reached 489 thousand hectares (+8% from 2017 results), including 283 thousand hectares of soy (+15%), 153 thousand hectares of wheat (-27%) and 42 thousand hectares of corn (+16%).
