Rusagro has announced the end of the harvesting campaign
21.12.21Rusagro has completed the harvesting campaign in Belgorod, Tambov, Kursk, Orel, Voronezh Regions and in Primorsky Krai. Total cultivated land reached 528 thousand ha (+2%), gross yield increased to 4,992 thousand tonnes (+12%). This year-on-year rise in land area is explained by introduction lands from farrow (+8 thousand ha). Key reason for gross yield growth is sugar beat gross yield improvement by 27%.
Gross yields of grains dropped to 827 thousand tonnes (-27%) due to lower cultivated land area (-16%) and average yield per hectare (-13%). Key negative effect was delivered by wheat results – its gross yield decreased by 290 thousand tonnes (-29%) in comparison to 2020. Due to extreme winter, lack of moisture and high temperature during seeds maturation, yield per hectare dropped by 20%, while due to mass loss of sows, sowed area reduced by 12%. Additionally, barley was withdrew from the crop rotation, while in 2020 it took 18 thousand ha. Meanwhile, gross yield of corn rose by 46% - cultivated area grew by 4% and yield per hectare improved by 41%. These results were achieved thanks to shorter sowing period and more optimal agrotechnical timeframes of crop harvesting.
Gross yields of oil crops rose to 408 thousand tonnes (+17%) due to expansion of cultivated land area to 228 thousand hectares (+22%), which was partially compensated by yield per hectare drop by 4%. Increase of land area cultivated with soy and sunflower is associated with resowing of destroyed winter wheat and growth of area under high margin crops. However, the absence of basic autumn soil treatment before sunflower had a negative influence on its yield per hectare.
Gross yield of sugar beet amounted to 3,674 thousand tonnes in 2021, which is 785 thousand tonnes more than in 2020 (+27%). Key explanation is yield per hectare improvement by 19% due to measures against seed wind-blowing, as well as 7% higher cultivated land area.
